Give the Earth a Hug This Earth Day!

Boundless Beauty.  With Good Friday still on our minds, a much awaited Spring that finally arrived and Earth Day around the corner it is time to be quiet and be extra conscious of the beautiful creation that is our Earth. In the toy room we have been appreciating the poem "The Child's World", which seems particularly appropriate for Earth Day and did a wonderful craft to "give the Earth a Hug"!

Rainbow Mobiles to Reflect Darla's Top Pick

Darla's Top Pick of the Week, the Grimm's Large Wooden Rainbow, is so beautiful and so entertaining to play with that Darla and the Ape 2 Zebra Kids were inspired to make their own rainbow mobiles this afternoon. 

Darla thinks that the best thing about this activity is how much fun it is to make it, and how pretty it looks hanging up in your room when it's done, but I think that the best thing about the activity is how many opportunities it provides for learning, especially science and math.

Hooray for Handprint Bunny Cards!

Bunnies and Best Wishes!

Easter is just over two weeks away, and we want to make sure that everyone we love is able to share in the spirit of our celebrations, even if they can't physically be with us on that day.  We want to document the growth and changes in our own families too.  The Ape 2 Zebra kids are growing so fast that sometimes it seems they have sprouted a size overnight, and it seems hard to believe that there was a time when they really were that small.  With these thoughts in our heads, we hit the craft room today determined to devise a craft that would allow us to spread Easter love, and preserve memories, and these handprint bunnies seemed like just the thing.

Super(food) St. Patrick's Day Smoothies

Blendable Beverages! It's beary hard to find a kid or cub who doesn't love a frosty, fabulous, and fun treat Smoothies are a super way to satisfy them, and they can be super healthy too, depending on the ingredients you use. We put our heads together in the Ape 2 Zebra kitchen, and decided that St. Patrick's Day was the perfect time to try out a green smoothie on the Ape 2 Zebra kids.

As a literary bear I have been brooding over bundles of books and was just enjoying the Brothers Grimm's Fairy Tale , "The Three Little Bears" when Darla Porcupine blew in with the wind and bundles of fall leaves and pushed something oh so bearylicious under my nose!


Darla and the little creatures made some pumpkin pie smoothies and let me tell you they fantabulous!
