You will need a Wooden birthday ring with 12 or 16 holes in it (each hole representing a year in your child's life) Birthday candles (that will fit into the ring) Brass inserts for the candles Wooden figurines (all sold seperately). Each one of the wooden holes represent a year in your child's life. You will light a candle for each year and the rest of the holes are decorated with wooden figures. Usually the figures used are ones that are meaningful to your child at that moment. If your child is a pices you may choose some water themed figures, if he likes cars or animals then that may be represented or if a specific season/person is important then a figure could be used to represent that. People use a lot of creativity when it comes to this classic European tradition.
