This is a lovely toy. The design is simple: you simply turn the white crank on the top and the metal beater hook spins and stirs the "butter" and "flour" with a very satisfying rattling sound. My daughter loves the fact that it looks so much like my big counter-top mixer in fact, she kept it on the kitchen counter for the first month or so. Now she carries it around the house and makes cakes and breads for all sorts of special occasions and tea parties. The yellow and white balls have a tendency to roll away, so we try to keep them in the velcro-topped bags (provided as part of the set) when we are not using the mixer.
