When we first started looking for baby products a few months ago, safety was the top priority. We were so happy to find a website dedicated to safe products for children and a large selection of toys not manufactured in China (and an awareness of safety issues for those products that do come from China). We cant afford to buy a lot of toys from this site, but at least our baby will have some safe things to play with. My only other small complaint is lack of washing instructions in the product descriptions. We will definitely continue to buy from this company. Jillian from Southbury, USA

Melissa and Doug first looked at doing it at home in the USA. But
unfortunately, making toys in the USA (especially hand-made toys) are very expensive and although
Melissa and Doug tried, they couldn't find a local manufacturing company that could make his toys at a rate low enough to be able to compete in the marketplace. Melissa and Doug decided to
move the manufacturing process of their toys to China.
Today, Melissa and Doug has more than
fifty of their own employees who inspect the manufacturing processes in the Chinese factories
that make their wooden toys. Melissa and Doug
is involved in
every step of the manufacturing process to ensure that standards and procedures
are followed and that the toys are safe. Melissa and Doug also test batches of their toys
independently to ensure the safety of the toys.
